"Canada exists because of its founding nations who were European. Canada is the product of genetics passed down from generation to generation and the culture, values, history, tradition, and language that have also survived and flourished throughout the centuries. No other people can preserve everything that European Canadians have achieved. No other people can maintain our culture we have today, and what it must be in the future. To transport people from throughout the world and assume that they will become Canadian simply due to their surroundings is foolish. For the Dominion of Canada is more than a land mass, it is the product of a heritage, culture, and people unique and impossible to replicate."
Two things to note while I'm at it:
1) Canada originally had a suggestion to have three founding languages: English, French and Gaelic. What happened? I realize Gaelic is becoming a dead language, but language needn't die. I guess they didn't want to have a founding language of a people who were treated like garbage and forced to live in poverty while helping the Chinese build the CPR. Ugh.
2) Plans to change our national anthem from "in all thy son's command" to "in thou dost us command" in order to appease feminists? Get off the high horse, that is fucking retarded. I am sorry, but it is. It's a national anthem that hasn't changed for years. If we're going to start mucking with it now we might as well change it so it will be entirely PC. Take out the word god because you might offend someone. Take out "stand on guard" cause we might sound xenophobic, even though Canada embraces multiculturalism like an obsese American in a dougnut shop. Then we'll just have some stupid song that is supposed to represent this country. Whatever. I guess it would fit nicely considering this country isn't at all what it was founded as. I'm not really sure what I think about Canada. Like I said, whatever.
**PS. It has been noted that Harper decided against changing it due to massive public opposition... Hmm.
Thoughts?
